The organisation was established in 1996 as a non-governmental organisation with the main purpose to protect the rights of tenants' in Liepaja city. The Chairperson of Liepaja Tenants' Association is Mrs. Lasma Vaice.

The objective of the organisation is to work on behalf of society in the sphere of improvement of housing policy in Latvia.

The task of the organisation is to be the mediator between landlords and tenants, as well as between consumers and service providers.

The organisation works on uniting tenants for their rights' protection and providing society with information about their rights using services and purchasing of goods.

Tenants Association of Liepaja provides the local society with legal assistance and consultations. The organisation has established a youth group, which mostly works on educational programmes for Liepaja inhabitants about tenants' and consumers' rights.

The main partners of Liepaja Tenants Association are Rezekne Consumer Protection Club; Consumer Rights Protection Organisation of Ogre; Municipality of Liepaja city and others.

Tenants Association of Liepaja is one of the founding members of Latvian National Association for Consumer Protection.
